The Spender, The Bargain Hunter and The Cheapskate

In the world of money and spending I believe that they are three very different people.

1.The spender.
The spender loves to spend money on absolutely everything, cutting costs isn't in this persons lifestyle and that can be for a number of reasons. One reason maybe that the number on the price tag never seems to shock them as they can afford it or that laziness means they pop into the nearest shop and will pay anything because they don't shop around.

2.The bargain hunter.
The bargain hunter loves to find clever ways and tricks to cut the costs of items. This person knows that for some items spending a bit more is a must in order to still keep the quality.

3.The cheapskate.
The cheapskate hates to spend money and will skimp out on quality if it means the price is beyond ridiculously cheap. Splashing out never or very rarely happens.

If like me you're watching your bank balance and want to make smarter choices have a look at my top 3 money saving tips.

Tip No.1. STOP taking your card on night's out!
You drink, you get drunk, you drink more, you buy the whole bar drinks, you drop a £20, you think it's a good idea to buy more alcohol, you drop the bottle of vodka and it smashes, you cry, you go home, you sleep, you be sick, you sleep, you wake up, you mope, you be sick, you check you're balance. OH SNAP!
Was it worth it? On occasion yes but more than likely it wasn't.
Set yourself a budget, a reasonable one with £15 on top for emergencies. Take that amount in cash out and you won't overspend.

Tip No.2. STOP buying "vintage" clothes from overpriced shop
If like me you're all things quirky, old and unique then the charity shop is your best friend. You need to have a good rummage and be patient but it's fun, especially if you find what you want for a fraction of the price.
Make a list of 4-5 items you want, grab a friend and hit the charity shops. Don't steer from the list to avoid spending money simply because its cheap.

Tip No.3. CUT DOWN on all the lunches and dinners out
I know it's annoying if you're a lazy head like me but instead of popping to the nearest sandwich place for lunch make your own in the morning or the night before. Even if you only start with doing it once a week it will make a difference.
Change dinner plans out with your friends to a shopping trip to the supermarket and make dinner together with a bottle of your favourite drink to hand. Try a Thai Red Curry with some sticky sesame rice!

Slowly overtime you'll notice how all your little changes make a big difference to the weight of your purse, after all, those pennies will turn themselves into pounds.

Be the bargain hunter!
